– Client requested Emby media server setup on their NAS.
(Emby is a media server software that allows users to stream and manage their personal media collections, such as movies, TV shows, music, and photos, across multiple devices. It functions similarly to Plex, providing an organised media experience with metadata, cover art, and streaming capabilities.)
– NAS will be used for media storage, streaming, and remote streaming.
– Requires installation, configuration, media library setup, and user access management.
Implementation (Remote):
1 – Ensure DSM DiskManagementSystem (Synology) is up to date.
2 – Review storage capacity.
3 – Review current media.
4 – Download and install Emby Server on NAS.
5- Set up admin account and initial configuration
6 – Media Library folder setup (Movies / TV Shows / Music)
7 – Transfer of current media, Movies, TV Shows, Music to respective media folders.
8 – Index and scan media into Emby’s library.
9 – Enable metadata fetching for media organization.
10 – User Accounts configuration, including Parental Control requirements.
11 – Router external access review
12 – DDNS account setup for remote access
13 – Port forwarding setup and access verification.
14 – Emby access tests on Smart TVs, mobile devices, and computers.
