A little IT History. What’s a USB stick and when were they invented?

USB sticks (also called USB keys or flash drives) were invented in the late 1990s. The first models were introduced around 2000 by companies like IBM, Trek Technology, and M-Systems.

These small, portable devices replaced floppy disks and CDs, offering a faster and easier way to store and transfer data. They became popular quickly because they were durable, reusable, and could hold much more data than older storage methods.

Today, USB sticks are used everywhere, from saving important files to sharing photos or videos, making them one of the most convenient storage tools in modern technology.
